The T280
A trio of cars sold via Carl Haas to be run by the Baker Motor Company for Pete Harrison, Tom Fraser and Bobby Rinzler.
Bobby Rinzler had teamed up with Jim Baker’s Baker Motor Company in 1970 to run a Chevron B16 in the Sebring 12 Hours and then SCCA racing. On the back of the Lola T210’s 1970 success Baker arranged through Carl Haas Automobile Imports Ltd. for the purchase of the three T212’s. All three T212’s were painted orange and fitted with Cosworth’s 1790cc FVC engines. Harrison’s car was the first to appear with Rinzler’s appearing at the Palm Beach National in late August where he won by less than a second from his two team mates. With the third T212 now arrived for Rinzler and the Baker Motor Co. renamed Rinzler Racing, the three cars dominated SCCA Southeast Division racing in 1971, beaten only by each other all season. Tom Frazer won the devision with 43 points, followed by Harrison with 37 and Rinzler, in HU35, with 35. This qualified all three drivers for the SCCA Run-Offs or American Road Race of Champions as it was known. Held at the SCCA’s annual jamboree at Road Atlanta. The BSR cars ran together with the ASR class and Group 7 Can-Am cars. Harrison finished fourth overall to take the class victory with Frazer fourth in class and Rinzler, in HU35 (race No. 62), seventh in class.
